Endorsement of Tom Winslow, SC House District 103

Endorsement of Tom Winslow, SC House District 103

It is with great pleasure that I announce the many endorsements we have received in our run for South Carolina House Seat 103. Recently, Senator Jim DeMint visited Georgetown County and threw his full support behind Tom Winslow. Sen. DeMint stated that "Tom has true Conservative morals and I fully support him for SC House Seat 103."

He joins the long list of respected political and community figures who have pledged their support of Tom Winslow in House Seat 103. Some of those figures include Governor Nikki Haley, 7th Congressional  Candidate Tom Rice, County Councilman Ron Charlton, City Councilman Paige Sawyer, the past Lt. Governor Andre Bauer, Jim Jerow, Ted Quantz, State House seat 108 candidate Stephan Goldfinch, Roland Lambert, RL Port, past Congressional Candidate Jim Madder, past Congressional Candidate Jay Jordan, SC State Representative Alan Clements, and many local business owners including Tim Tilley, owner of EnviroSep and chairman of the Georgetown County Economic Development Alliance and the Alliance's Port Dredging Task Force.

Tim Tilley previously stated "that Georgetown County's House Delegation is one of the weakest House delegations in the entire state and that we must elect someone who is willing to work hard for the people of Georgetown and District 103."

Jim Madder added to the endorsement of Tim Tilley saying, "so many times in the past we have had to settle for voting against someone, instead of voting for someone. This year is different. This year the voters have a chance to vote for Tom Winslow, who not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk. Tom Winslow is the candidate to vote for this November 6th."

These comments could not be truer according to business owner, past Congressional Candidate, and Christian Jay Jordan. "I have known Tom for many years; he is a man of integrity, a Christian at heart, and an advocate for the people he represents every day. He has the tools to bring to Georgetown and the people of 103 the jobs and infrastructure they need."

The endorsements do not stop coming in, nor does the support from voters who say they have or will check his name November 6, 2012.

Thank you for your continued support.

Campaign 2012 Contributions

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Last week each candidate was required to submit their campaign finances to the South Carolina Ethics Commission which is made public.  This is a great source of information for all voters to learn about whether their candidate is receiving the support of the community.  I am proud to announce that we reached our fundraising goal of $10,000 in the race with 63 individual contributions from people that care about this community.  That is 78% of all contributions came from within Georgetown County from people and businesses that say it is time for a change.

We intentionally did not reach out to any PAC’s or other special interest groups; however we did receive one unsolicited contribution from The Palmetto Patriot Leadership Committee which is led by State Representative Alan Clemmons.

In contrast, we put all of Carl Anderson's 2012 election cycle contributions in a spreadsheet for analysis and found a few things that you might want to take a look at:

Out of the $25,639 Anderson raised for the cycle, only $1,150 or 4.5 percent came from within Georgetown County. Those contributions are highlighted in green below.

Only $800 or 3 percent of the total raised came from within District 103: E-Z Car Rental ($500), Charles Smith ($100), and John Hilliard ($200).

So in the last two years in office, Anderson was only able to attract three campaign contributions totaling just $800 from the people that know him the best, his constituents.  The lack of support Mr. Anderson is receiving is staggering.

Mr. Anderson is beholden to special interests groups, not his constituents. Out of state corporations, pay day lenders, unions, and special interest PACs represent nearly all of the contributions to his campaign.  It is no wonder Mr. Anderson has been nearly invisible this election year.

Just for example, Mr. Anderson took $1,500 in contributions from the SC Health Care PAC, $500 more than allowed by law for the election cycle based on the fact that he had no primary and just a general election. Those contributions are highlighted in yellow above.

Just like the use of the state plane, I must once again call on Mr. Anderson to return the money for the illegal contribution.  We must elect a Representative that supports our morals, principles, and abides by the same fiscal responsibility we all must on a day to day basis.  That is why I urge you to check the name Tom Winslow for District 103.

Return The Money

Tom Winslow for S.C. House Seat 103

Return the Money

Tom Winslow calls on Carl Anderson to return the taxpayer’s money for his improper use of an Airplane to fly from Columbia to Georgetown.

GEORGETOWN – House Seat 103 Candidate Tom Winslow called on Carl Anderson to return to the tax payers $935 he spent on using the state plane on a flight from Columbia, SC to Georgetown, SC for the groundbreaking of his place of business, St. Stephens Church on March 14, 2012.

“It’s troubling that Carl Anderson would knowingly take the taxpayer’s hard earned money and even after it is reported refuse to return that money.  With better planning and financial responsibility Carl could have simply made the 3 hour drive like most of us do.” Tom Winslow said.

“It’s ironic that a few days after this practice, Carl Anderson would be seen at an event with Nikki Haley who just had to return close to $10,000 in tax payer funds for the improper use of the state plane.  As a Representative of the people, I call on Carl to immediately return the funds to the taxpayers and I promise to always value every hard earned dollar that the people I represent have to pay in taxes.“

Tom Winslow faces Incumbent Carl Anderson on the November 6th election for SC House of Representatives District 103.

Mid Oct. events

We quickly approach November 6, 2012 and with your support we will make it a great day.  While we talk about support, I want to thank my wife who has always supported me.  Yesterday was our anniversary and we were able to take a moment to share the weekend.   No matter how busy we are it is important for us to always remember our family and God.

Tonight, Oct. 15th in Georgetown County at the Tara Theatre in Litchfield at 5:30 Senator Jim DeMint will be speaking about America in 2012.  This is a great opportunity to come out and hear firsthand about Washington DC and our government.  Come meet your candidates and learn about them.  Your vote is the most important thing you can do November 6, please let us earn it.

This Thursday, Oct. 18th from 2-3pm there is voter watcher training at the voting office in Georgetown.  This is an important function for all the candidates and if you are interested and available on Nov. 6 please goes to this training.

A weekend of wins!

What a fantastic weekend in Georgetown, SC. On Saturday Night, my dancing partner Holly (Student dancer at the Studio of Dance) and I won the Georgetown Dancing with the Stars Championship with a crazy hip hop routine created by Wendy Carraway. As many of you know, Lauren and I like to exercise so we would go and rehearse this dance like crazy almost every day for a month instead of going for a run. Well, Saturday morning we had rehearsals where we practiced one last time, however it did not go as planned. I nailed my toe on a mat and broke my toe.  My toe was not in good shape, but at least I did not break a leg, so the show went on and we won.

While this was happening the Gamecocks took care of business and my commercial aired during the broadcast. It is a great commercial and simply asks what has our current representative done for us? The roads – not done. The Port – not dredged. Jobs – gone. Why do we not demand more from our employees? Elected officials are our employees, so demand more.  Please watch for my commercial during all Clemson and Carolina games until the election.

On Sunday we went out and covered the city with campaign signs and really found out how much support we had. Thank you to everyone that is supporting us and should you want a sign, sticker, flyers, etc. Please let me know.

Then to cap off the night we won the Georgetown Times Poll question of who will win the race for S.C. House Seat 103 on Nov. 6. It is close and that is what we are expecting. Remember to vote  November 6 and to check my name under my race.  Vote for those that will make a difference you believe in.

Thank you for your continued support.

Georgetown Times Poll

Friends and Family,

We are having a great week in District 103. There are so many events to go to, people to see, and actions to take. We had a fantastic Patriots Club meeting Monday night in which many great ideas were shared that could really help District 103. We must continue to push forward and effectuate change for Georgetown County. There is no excuse for failing to push for the port to be dredged, having the roads completed, and bringing in new businesses. We must fight to make a difference for the nearly 10% that are out of work in our community.

Our fundraising goal is within reach and the campaign is pushing ahead with our plan for success. Any future contributions may very well push us over the top. Soon we have done everything we possibly could to lead me into the 103 House Seat so I can serve you.  If anyone out there would like material, yard signs, or to  volunteer, please let us know.

Currently, on www.gtowntimes.com , there is a poll asking who will win the SC House Seat 103 race. Please go to the website and vote for me, Tom Winslow. We are winning by 8 votes right now, so like on Nov. 6, your vote really does count.

Thank you for your support, your help, and your vote.
